SUMMERVILLE, SC –  Want to know a sure fire way to get caught for DUI? Crash into a police car of course, and that’s exactly what one driver did this weekend.

A Summerville woman was charged with driving under the influence Friday night after crashing into a Dorchester County deputy’s cruiser.

South Carolina Highway Patrol officials charged 48-year-old Marcia Lorraine Grab with DUI after the incident took place just before 11 pm Friday night. According to troopers who arrived on scene to offer assistance, the cruiser sustained severe damage to the right side and front end.

Authorities haven’t described the exact circumstances of the drunk driving incident but reported that Grab,  who was driving a green Jeep Wrangler, “contributed to the accident.”

The deputy involved in the crash complained of a loss of feeling to his left shoulder and arm. He was transported to Summerville Medical Center, where he was treated for swelling in his right eye and nose and strained muscles on his shoulder, neck, arm, and back.

Have you or someone you know been arrested for DUI? Do you believe you were unfairly arrested? If so, it is in your best interest to consult with a DUI lawyer immediately to see about contesting your charges.

Without a top attorney on your side, you may suffer penalties including losing your license, having to attend rehab or may even be sent to prison. Having a DUI attorney working on your case can help matters resolve favorably, especially if you were arrested on suspicion of intoxication alone or the breathalyzer test that was used was inaccurate.

Call a DUI defense lawyer today to discuss your options and get started on filing a case.
